It’s a bird, it’s a plane
No - it’s Captain Oblivious!
Soaring aimlessly around
And missing all of this

He remembered his cape
And he somehow found his tights
But the cape is on inside out
And his left it boot don’t match the right

I’ve been hanging off this balcony
Screaming for my life
And the fire’s creeping closer
And the smoke is getting tight

But there goes Captain Oblivious
Fly man Fly!
He blew right past at 50 miles
and even looked me in the eye
But he is as he does
He can be nothing more
For he is Captain Oblivious
Clueless to the core

The villain is gaining ground
There’s no one here to save me from impending doom
No one to sweep in at the last second
To save me from this ruin

The alarm has been triggered
And the red phone has been called
But he’s just hanging in midair
With all his engines stalled

The crowd below that gathered
Hopes he just might save the day
But Oblivious is cruising round
15 miles away

There are no special effects
No wires and no blue screen
No stunt doubles and no extras
No pyrotechnics and no C.G.

It’s just me waiting for the good Captain
To see if he comes through
